David Pearson - Repeat Sex Offender - Gets only 6 years

A SEX offender has been jailed for six years for possessing child porn movies and abusing two girls.

David Pearson, 35, of Wilson Street, Mansfield, owned five short films, one showing a child as young as three being abused.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the films were all in the level four category. The most serious category in the scale is level five.

Some of the charges against Pearson covered copying of the indecent material on a CD and desktop computer.

During the police investigation, officers learned that Pearson had got a 14-year-old girl to repeatedly perform a sexual act on him and had taken indecent photos of her.

He also indecently touched a 15-year-old girl.

Pearson pleaded guilty to three charges of indecency with a child, four of indecent assault between December 2001 and December 2002, three charges of taking indecent photographs and possession of indecent images.

Computer equipment was seized when police searched his home on March 13, 2008. Judge Michael Stokes, QC, disqualified Pearson from working with children for life, and ordered him to sign the sex offenders' register on his release.

"You don't need me to tell you that these are very serious offences," said the judge. "You have to be dealt with for offences where you were in possession of quite disgusting moving pictures, involving in some of the cases very young children.

"The damage that such offending does to adolescent girls is considerable and we will never know how much damage has been caused, in particular, to the 14-year-old."

Guy Napthine, in mitigation, said his client had recently seen a psychiatrist about his crimes.

"It is expected the psychiatrist recommends he goes to a specialist prison where sex offenders are dealt with," he said.

"He is preparing to accept any assistance by way of courses within the prison to address what he has done."
