Hall said that Kleinpeter, who also uses the name John Andrews, identified himself as a pastor at Generations Community Church.
An Oct. 7 court date is set for a registered sex offender accused of peeking up women's skirts at department stores in Temecula and Murrieta, a district attorney's spokesman said today.
John Albert Kleinpeter, 51, was arrested Friday at his Murrieta home by Riverside County's multi-agency Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force, according to John Hall of the District Attorney's Office.
Kleinpeter's arrest followed an investigation into a series of incidents at department stores, in which witnesses allegedly saw him looking up skirts and sometimes using a mirror or taking photographs with a cell phone camera.Authorities did not say when the incidents allegedly occurred.
Investigators who served a search warrant at Kleinpeter's home seized a laptop computer, a cell phone and other items, according to Hall.
Kleinpeter is a registered sex offender who has been convicted of assault with intent to commit rape, sodomy or oral copulation, according to court records. He was booked on suspicion of using a concealed camera to secretly photograph another person for sexual desires and remains out of custody pending his October arraignment date at the Southwest Justice Center.
Anyone with information about the department store incidents or the suspect was asked to call Investigator Matt Remmers of the SAFE task force at (951) 696-3499.
