Robert Arredondo - Repeat Sex Offender - Gets 60 years

A judge today ordered that a 59-year-old convicted sex offender from Georgetown serve 120 years in prison.

A jury had convicted Robert Arredondo this week on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and recommended 60-year sentences for each, which Judge Burt Carnes imposed. Arredondo will not be eligible for parole for 60 years.
Two 10-year-old girls were visiting Arredondo in August 2008 when he sexually assaulted them on different days, according to a statement from the Williamson County district attorney’s office.

Arredondo told both girls not to tell anyone and told one of the girls that he would go to jail and her grandmother would die if she told anyone, the statement said.
The girls told their mother and a grandmother about the abuse in October 2008, the statement said. The girls were taken to the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center for interviews that were played during the trial, according to the statement.

During the punishment phase of the trial, the jury learned that Arredondo had previously sexually abused two other family members, the statement said.
