Springdale police said 45-year-old Chester Lee Hatton confessed to trying to photograph a partially nude 12-year-old girl with his cell phone after he followed her into a restroom at Tri-County Mall.
Police said Hatton was charged with voyeurism in the May 25 incident at Dillard's and then again June 20 in a Sears restroom, and officers said he was a suspect in a similar incident at B.J. Brew House.
A man convicted of trying to take pictures inside a women's restroom at the Tri-County Mall will spend 10 months behind bars and remain a class three sex offender.
According to Springdale police, Chester Lee Hatton Jr. attempted to use his cell phone to take a pictures of women inside bathroom stalls on two separate occasions last spring.
On one of those occasions, Sears store officials noticed a suspicious man watching the area of the women's restroom.
Authorities say Hatton is a registered sex offender, and was out on parole when he entered the women's restroom and looked into an occupied stall.
Hatton pleaded no contest to voyeurism in August. He learned his new sentence at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
