Eric Devon Smith - Repeat Sex Offender - Pervs on kids at Books-A-Million

A registered sex offender was arrested Monday after witnesses say he exposed himself in the children's area of Books-A-Million while pretending to read, police say.

Eric Devon Smith, 33, of Colonial Drive in Rock Hill, was charged with indecent exposure and remains in custody Wednesday on $23,000 bond.

Witnesses said Smith had pulled his shorts up to expose his genitals to children and other customers at the book store, 540 John Ross Parkway, according to Rock Hill police reports.

When Smith saw police in the store around 2:30 p.m. Monday, reports indicate that he lowered a large dictionary he was holding and adjusted his shorts.

Another witness told police Smith also exposed himself in the store’s coffee shop the day before, reports say.

Smith’s sex offender status on the state registry stems from a 2005 stalking conviction, sheriff’s office records say.

Police found .12 grams of marijuana in Smith’s car, and he was also charged with possession of marijuana, reports say.
