Hubert Haraszewski - Repeat Sex Offender - Using Insanity plea

A judge allowed an insanity plea today from a convicted sex offender accused of molesting four boys in the mid-1990s, including one at San Onofre State Beach.
Vista Superior Court Judge Timothy Casserly granted a defense motion to let Hubert Haraszewski plead not guilty by reason of insanity to charges that could bring a life prison term, including committing a lewd act on a child and possession of child pornography.
The judge appointed psychiatrists to evaluate the 33-year-old defendant and set his trial for Nov. 30. If Haraszewski is convicted, a jury would be asked to decide whether he was insane at the time of the alleged crimes.

The defendant had already been charged with molesting a 9-year-old boy in Palmdale and a 12-year-old boy at San Onofre when he was accused last year of molesting two Ventura County boys.
Haraszewski spent nine years in state prison on a child molestation conviction in 1996 in Ventura County, said Deputy District Attorney Patricia Lavermicocca.
