Ryan J. Summers - Repeat Sex Offender - Busted on way to the motel with another boy

A two-time child sex offender was arrested on his way to spend the night with an 11-year-old boy at a motel last weekend, police said.

Lt. Scott Crater and Cpl. Vincent Corsentino were patrolling Route 22 just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 when they saw a man and young boy walking westbound next to the roadway. Crater and Corsentino stopped the two and began questioning them.
The man, identified as 35-year-old Ryan J. Summers, had previously been convicted of sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to Megan's Law records, he had sexually assaulted male children in at least three instances in Hunterdon and Middlesex Counties.
Police said Summers and the boy confirmed they were on their way back to the motel room where Summers lives to spend the night there.
A telephone call to the boy's mother found that in fact she did know Summers and her son were planning on staying together, but she was not aware of Summers' past as a sexual offender. She requested her son be removed from Summers' care.
Police also found Summers was not registered with the township as Megan's Law requires. He was arrested and charged with failing to register as a sex offender and lodged in Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of bail.

Carter took the 11-year-old home and turned him over to his mother, police said.
