Scott D. Todd Sr., who turned 49 on Monday, now faces decades in prison after being found guilty of first-degree statutory sodomy, two counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of furnishing pornography to a minor. He was acquitted of two additional child molestation charges, which alleged he touched his victims' breasts.
In a trial that spanned most of last week -- and ended with a verdict in the early hours of Saturday -- prosecutors presented evidence Todd molested two young girls from January 2004 to January 2006. The girls were 7 and 9 when the abuse began.Beyond sexually touching the girls, Todd allegedly showed them pornography on his home computer.
Jurors were handed the case to decide Friday afternoon, and reached their verdicts at 1:35 a.m. Saturday .
Since he was convicted of sodomy in 1998, Todd will be sentenced as a prior and persistent offender at a hearing Dec. 18.
An Alford plea differs from a guilty plea in that the defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to win a conviction.
The man faces between 10 years and life for the sodomy conviction, and 10 to 30 years for each of the child molestation counts. Furnishing pornography to a minor carries a maximum four-year penalty.
