Kenneth Kellam - Repeat Sex Offender - Tried to lure more boys

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A convicted sex offender is in the Dougherty County jail accused of trying to pick up two boys as they walked home from school Monday afternoon.
36-year old Kenneth Kellam is charged with two counts of attempting to entice a child for indecent purposes, two counts of attempted child molestation, and one count of failing to register as a sex offender. School Police picked up Kellam near Northside Elementary on 14th Avenue as a mother confronted him for approaching her sons.
"It's real concerning people choose children as targets," R. D. Harter of the DCSS. "We despise that for obvious reasons and want to keep our children safe and I'm thrilled we have a police department that can get on top of things as quickly as we can and stop this particular situation."

Police say Kellam tried to convince the boys to get into his white van last week, and they believe that's what he was going to do again Monday. Police impounded that van as part of their investigation.
In 2003, Kellam was convicted in Tampa, Florida of false imprisonment of a child for trying to force two 13-year old boys into a van.
