Beth Ann Chester - Ex teacher charged with child sexual abuse

A former Moon High School gym teacher was arrested and charged Friday with having sexual conduct with a 14-year-old student, authorities said.

Beth Ann Chester, 26, of Scott, faces nine criminal counts, including three counts of child sexual abuse and two of unlawful contact with a minor, according to a statement from the Moon Township Police Department.

Chester, a freshman physical education teacher, resigned from her job on Dec. 27, police said. School district officials contacted police on Jan. 3 after other staffers suggested Chester may have had sexual contact with students. Moon police searched Chester's home and her cell phone records, as well as the cell phone records of a 14-year-old male student.

She is held in Allegheny County Jail pending $50,000 straight bond, and is schedule to appear in court at 1 p.m. Jan. 8. She has not yet entered a plea.
