ELYRIA — A registered sexual predator has been indicted for allegedly trying to lure a 9-year-old boy into a car.
Orlando Knight, 29, is charged with criminal child enticement, a felony that could send him to prison for a year.
Assistant County Prosecutor Dave Muhek said the boy was walking along East 29th Street in Lorain on Oct. 21, when Knight pulled up and offered to give the boy money if he would get in the car.
The boy ran away from Knight and reported the incident to his parents.
He was later able to pick Knight out of a lineup, Muhek said.
Knight, of Elyria, has served two previous sentences for sex crimes, according to court records.
He pleaded guilty to attempted rape and other charges stemming from a 1997 incident and served 3½ years in prison.
He was convicted of gross sexual imposition in 2003 for a 2002 incident that led to him serving four years behind bars.
