Teacher facing child sex charge

A teacher at a County Down grammar school has been charged with making and possessing indecent images of children. It is understood the man has been released on bail.

Sullivan Upper School in Holywood has confirmed one of its teachers has been suspended from his job as a precaution after being arrested and questioned.

The Holywood school is writing to parents of pupils but said there was no evidence that the alleged activities were connected to the school.

The school said it was obliged to issue the precautionary suspension in cases such as this.
