An Oskaloosa man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for trying to get what he believed was a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him by claiming to be a depressed leukemia patient.
Graeme Pierson, 45, was indicted on federal pornography charges after he approached a Black Hawk County sheriff's deputy who was posing as the girl in an Internet chat room last year.
Pierson was convicted this month of attempted production of child porn and attempting to induce a child to engage in sexual activities.
Pierson used different computers and online profiles to communicate with the "girl." Authorities say he claimed to have leukemia and asked her to have sex with him so he would have something to live for.
He also promised her high-priced modeling jobs and sent her money to buy a camera so she could send nude photos of herself, court records show.
