Deputies have arrested a registered sex offender who they said sent obscene text messages and pictures to the cell phone of a woman who did not know him.
Investigators said that David Lee Vogel, 46, was identified as the sender of the messages through his cell phone service provider.
Pickens County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Vogel on Wednesday. The said that the messages explicitly described sex acts that he wished to perform on the victim as well as used explicit and vulgar language.
Vogel is on the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry because he was convicted in 1998 of a lewd act on a child under 16.
He is being held without bond at the Pickens County Detention Center while awaiting trial on similar charges involving a juvenile victim.
He is now also charged with communicating obscene messages to another person, participation in the preparation of obscene material and unlawful use of telephone.
Police said Vogel is also facing unrelated pending charges in Greenville County.
