A Manteca man accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl and possessing child pornography surrendered to police Thursday in Nebraska, police said.
Authorities arrested Evan Lee Shofner, 30, a resident of the 800 block of Marion Street.
Police began their investigation when a woman told police that Shofner appeared to have child pornography on his computer. The woman also told police she worried that Shofner may have molested a girl.
Detectives searched Shofner's home, found his computer and discovered child pornography on it, said Rex Osborn, spokesman for the Manteca Police Department.
Police said they recovered a graphic video of a very small child being sexually assaulted by a man. Officials said Shofner is not the person in the video, nor is the identity of the child known.
Authorities said Shofner turned himself in in North Platte, Neb. He faces felony charges of child molestation and possession of child porn.
Shofner was being held without bail and was expected to be sent back to California.
