Bruce Stanley Jones - Repeat Sex Offender - Rapist

Jones pleaded down a rape charge in July 2002 and was convicted of third-degree sex offense in Baltimore County where he had to register as a sex offender.

A registered sex offender was arrested and charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Bruce Stanley Jones was arrested Oct. 1. and charged in the rape that happened on Sept. 18 in the Reservoir Hill section of Baltimore.

Jones pleaded down a rape charge in July 2002 and was convicted of third-degree sex offense in Baltimore County where he had to register as a sex offender.

According to court records, Jones has since then been charged three times with failing to register as a sex offender and/or keeping his address current.

In March, he pleaded guilty as charged, spent the night in jail and was ordered by a judge to be placed on supervised probation for seven months. He was supposed to check in every month but he hadn't since June and police had been looking for him ever since. Police said he was still on probation when the most recent incident occurred.

In the most recent case, police charging documents indicated that Jones was an acquaintance of the 14-year-old victim and that he forced her into his car as she walked home from school.

Police said the rape occurred in Jones' apartment but didn't say how the victim managed to escape. Jones became a suspect when police were called to investigate a domestic violence complaint by Jones' girlfriend, Shawnice Braxton.

Police said Braxton spotted Jones talking to the victim in his car the day after the rape. According to police records, Braxton asked the victim how she knew Jones and the victim confided that he raped her in his apartment.

Police didn't reveal the circumstances in which the victim ended up back in Jones' car the next day.

Court documents indicated that Braxton, who was with the victim, confronted Jones with the rape allegation and spotted another girl with him. She warned both girls that Jones was a convicted sex offender.

Court papers said that Jones choked and pushed Braxton, then took her car keys and left the location.

The Maryland Sex Offender Registry lists Jones as an offender at risk of striking again. He is currently being held without bail.
