A Kearney man already listed as a Level 3 sex offender has been sentenced to 15 to 20 years in prison for the attempted sexual assault of a child.
Ricky Journey was convicted Aug. 21. The crime occurred in April.
Level 3 offenders are those deemed most likely to reoffend.
Journey's listing on the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry says he had a 1996 conviction for sexually assaulting a child in Buffalo County and a 1992 conviction in Denver on a similar charge.
Deputy Buffalo County Attorney Melanie Young says Journey can't be allowed in the public because he's a pedophile.
The 54-year-old said in court Wednesday that he was sorry for what he did and that he should have talked to his family about his problem years ago.
"25% of all sex offenders re-offend within 15 years"
