Renee Jones - Aiding and abetting pedophile husband - 5 years in prison

A woman from Clinton was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday for conspiring with her husband to sexually abuse and produce pornographic photographs of a teen-aged girl.

Renee Jones, 46, pleaded guilty in June 2007 to a reduced charge of conspiracy to produce child pornography. In addition to a prison sentence, senior U.S. District Judge Alfred V. Covello placed Jones on probation for three years following her release and ordered her to pay $55,000 in restitution to the victim.

The victim, now a young woman, appeared in court in Hartford Tuesday and asked Covello to impose a long sentence. She said the abuse took place over several years. It is The Courant's policy not to publish information that could identify victims of sexual abuse.

In September, Jones' husband, 61-year old professional photographer Robert Gamble, was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for sexually abusing and producing tens of thousands of pornographic photographs of the victim. Gamble pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge in June 2007.

Gamble began producing the photographs after telling the victim, when she was 13-years old, that the photographs would help her begin a modeling career. He kept written records of the activities and created written agreements for Jones and the victim to sign.

Jones signed one agreement entitled "Guidelines For Success: No conditions or restrictions." The various agreements detailed compensation agreements under which the victim would participate in sexual activities and photography sessions in exchange for rewards such as clothing and privileges. If the victim resisted, the rewards were taken away, prosecutors said.

Jones' lawyer told Covello she married Gamble after meeting him over the Internet and became another of his victims. Covello sentenced Jones to the maximum sentence provided for by federal law.
