Robert Melvin Goode Jr. - School Administrator Arrested On Molestation Charges

A veteran North County school administrator was in custody Thursday on suspicion of sexually abusing a child for six years, beginning when she was 8, authorities reported.

Robert Melvin Goode Jr., 60, surrendered to the Oceanside Police Department early Wednesday evening, several hours after the agency announced that he was being sought in connection with the alleged molestation of the girl, OPD spokesman Kelan Poorman said.

Last Friday, Goode, who is married and has adult children, resigned from his position as a high-level administrator for three affiliated private schools: Classical Academy in Escondido, Classical Academy High School in Escondido and Coastal Academy in Oceanside.

From 1983 to 1994, he was principal of Tri-City Christian School, a secondary school in Vista.

Poorman declined to provide details about the alleged victim, except to say that she did not attend any of the campuses where the suspect worked. Goode, an Oceanside resident, was booked into Vista Jail on suspicion of committing lewd acts on a minor, continuous sexual abuse of a minor and oral copulation with a person under age 14. He was being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail pending an arraignment hearing tentatively scheduled for Friday afternoon.
