Sex offender arrested for rape

Angelina County deputies on Monday arrested a registered sex offender on a charge of raping a 14-year-old girl at a friend's house in November, an arrest report stated.Deputies jailed Christopher Lee Tillar, 23, of Lufkin on a charge of sexual assault — a second-degree felony offense.

During an interview with investigators, Tillar said he knew the girl was 14 and that the girl's father had told him to leave the girl alone because she was "too young for him," the report stated.

The girl told investigators Tillar forced himself on her in a bedroom at a couple's house in Angelina County, the report stated. She said he asked her if she wanted to have sex and she said no. She told her mother the bruises she had on her body, caused during the attack, were from someone hitting her while she was playing, the report stated. Tillar's bond had not been set Tuesday evening.

Tillar was convicted in 1998 of molesting a 3-year-old girl, according to an online sex offender registry operated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. He served seven years in the Texas Youth Commission for the crime. Since his release he has been arrested and indicted multiple times in Angelina County for failure to comply with his sex offender registration.
