Registered Sex Offender Re-arrested

NASSAU COUNTY, FL -- A registered sex offender is back behind bars in Nassau County.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old James Walter Scott.

Scott was released from State Prison at the beginning of the month. On Friday, he was taken into custody again.

He's accused of breaking into a home in Fernandina Beach and getting into bed with a girl under the age of 16. According to the report, she woke up and fought off Scott. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, but left some articles of clothing inside the house.

Information obtained by Fernandina Beach detectives led to a known sex offender, James Walter Scott, currently residing on Nottingham Drive in Nassau County.

Scott is charged with one count of burglary of an occupied residence and one count of lewdness. Scott is now being held on a "no bond" warrant.
