Michael A. Herington - Pleads Guilty to Child Porn

A Kalamazoo County man was sentenced Monday to 20 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography, authorities said.

Michael A. Herington, 60, of Scotts, pleaded guilty in October to distribution of images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Grand Rapids. During a January 2007 search of Herington's home, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents seized computers, disks and a thumb drive containing hundreds of still images and videos of child pornography, a news release said.

Agents had discovered that he had been chatting online with a California man and trading videos of children being sexually assaulted, federal officials said. Following release from prison, Herington will be under supervision for the rest of his life, authorities said.
