A city employee watched child pornography on a computer at the Pharr Memorial Library, police said Tuesday.
Ruben Navejas, 43, was arrested Monday afternoon after being taken from the library for questioning.
Details of his alleged crimes were revealed in a probable cause affidavit filed during his arraignment. His bond was set at $75,000.
Navejas admitted to watching a pornographic video at the library and at home, police said in the affidavit.
Police seized DVDs and a laptop from Navejas’ home as evidence, according to the document. The video depicts three minors having sex with each other.
Authorities were alerted to a possible crime at the library after being dispatched there Monday afternoon and learning pornography had been viewed on a library computer, according to the affidavit. Police did not say who dispatched them to the library or how suspicion arose.
Surveillance videos showed Navejas had used the computer, which led them to him, police said in the complaint.
Navejas performed maintenance work at the library and worked there for about four years, according to city leaders.
Though Navejas viewed the pornography on library computers, he did not download it there, police said.
