Cleveland Police say Convicted sex offender Edsel Griffin had everyone fooled.
"Speaking with his wife on an occasion I didn't get an idea that she actually knew his background. [She] definitely didn't know that he was a registered sex offender," says Cleveland detective Mark Gibson.
In August Griffin moved to Cleveland and assumed the name Ed Lorde. With his wife, step daughter- and new identity- Griffin settled into the community. He opened his own Karate Studio and worked with adults and children.
What those around him didn't know was Griffin's dangerous past.
In 1997 he was convicted in Florida of sexual battery against two children.
He lives with his 8 year old step daughter, which is illegal according to Gibson.
"We do consider him to be a danger to this child and his wife because he has a violent history," he says.
Detectives say sometime last week, Griffin and his wife abandoned their home here on 17th street and withdrew their child from school. Where there are now is not known and neighbors here say they had no idea who griffin really was.
"My little girl who was 8 was playing with his wife's daughter," says Laura Ryan, a neighbor.
You would have never expected that. I mean he was telling people he was a pastor and all sort of stuff and it's creepy," says Ryan
Griffin also served time in jail for robbery. He is wanted in Florida for violating his probation. Now he is wanted by Cleveland Police for failing to register to the Tennessee sex offenders list.
If you have any information Griffin's whereabouts, call Cleveland Police.
