Wednesday was the first day in court for the man who confessed to molesting at least 7 children over 40 years.
Evansville Police arrested Larry Mitchell Tuesday on eight counts of child molesting. His alleged victims were ages three to ten years old at the time.
Officers say during their investigation, Mitchell confessed to molesting the children, saying he exposed himself to at least two more.
Police filed the charges initially after a 16-year-old girl told officers at the new Holly's House, an abuse advocacy center, that Mitchell molested her eight years ago. She said he performed oral sex on her and forced her to perform oral sex on him multiple times in a shed in his yard. Mitchell also allegedly said his wife participated in some of the crimes. However, since the most of the victims are over 31, the statute of limitations in those cases are up and police say she can not be charged.
