Stanhope Miller - Repeat Sex Offender - Gets life in Prison

An Aptos man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday following his conviction on two felony counts of child molestation.

Santa Cruz District Attorney Bob Lee announced in a prepared statement that Stanhope Miller, 67, was found to be a habitual sex offender, having been previously convicted in 1972 of the same crime against the current victim's mother.

Miller received the long sentence due to mandatory sentencing under the Three Strikes law.

The court denied Miller's request to vacate the Three Strikes provisions prior to his sentencing.
