Jesse Goodman - Repeat Sex Offender - Internet Predator

A registered sex offender from Hunterdon County was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he met on a social networking website, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

Jesse Goodman, 30, of Annandale was charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault and one count of second degree endangering the welfare of a minor, authorities said. He was taken into custody on Friday night following an investigation by the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Summit Police Department.

Police executed a court-ordered search warrant at Goodman's home and seized a number of items, including several computers, authorities said. They said he met the victim last September on a social networking website aimed at teenagers.

The relationship soon turned physical, authorities said. Goodman traveled to Union County on multiple occasions to engage in sex acts with the victim, and drove the girl to his home in Hunterdon County and to his father's business in Sterling, N.J., where the two engaged in additional sex acts, authorities said.

Police were notified last week after the victim told a parent about the relationship, and an investigation was immediately launched, authorities said.

Goodman was convicted in Middlesex County on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child in October 2004, and under Megan's Law he was required to register as a sex offender. For this latest incarceration, Union County Superior Court Judge Stuart Peim set Goodman's bail at $400,000.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information should contact Sgt. Thomas Rich of Summit police at (908) 273-0051 or Prosecutor's Office Detective Patricia Gusmano at (909) 965-3809.
