A registered sex offender is behind bars on allegations had child pornography on his computer.
Larry Don Tillis, 47, is being held without bond in federal custody after a judge decided that he posed a danger to the community, U.S. Attorney Tim Johnson said in a prepared statement issued by the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Humble resident was previously convicted in 1993 for aggravated sexual assault of a child, aged 7 years old, according to the statement.Tillis was arrested by FBI agents on Sept. 14 after a criminal complaint filed against him stated that he was recieving child pornography, the statement read.
In an undercover online session, a San Antonio FBI agent allegedly used a peer-to-peer software to download child porn from Tillis' user account, according to the statement. A Houston FBI agent reviewed the files and determined that 24 of the 26 downloaded contained illicit materials.
A FBI task force in the Houston area searched Tillis' residence, where they allegedly found child pornography in a laptop computer, according to the statement.
Tillis, if convicted, could serve a 20 year prison sentence as well as a maximum fine of $250,000, the statement read.
The case is being a considered a part of Project Safe Childhood, a 2006 nationwide initiative created to combat the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, according to the statement.
